Our fabrics are primarily natural fabrics produced from 100% cotton and linen. When cleaning, care must be taken as fabrics can shrink when washed.
Many of our fabrics are colour woven. For coloured fabrics always use a detergent that is recommended for colour. (No bleach or optical brightening agents)
We recommend Dry Cleaning for some of our fabrics, this can also cause shrinkage.
It is important therefore to allow for extra material to allow for any shrinkage ( see shrinkage guidelines below)
We recommend that covers are made 10% looser than normal. The skirt should be approx 1" (2.5cm) too long. Piping will ideally be pre shrunk.
It is better to ensure fixed covers are treated with a stain protector. We supply a stain protector which can be sprayed onto the fabric. Alternatively we can arrange for the fabric to have a full stain protection finish. Please contact us for details.
None of our furnishing fabrics have a flame retardant finish, however we can arrange for FR treatment either a permanent back coated treatment or a non-durable treatment.
To avoid the need for FR treatment of your fabric a Flame Retardant interliner can be used by your upholsterer / manufacturer
For washing loose covers use a cool (max 40 degree) wash on a short cycle. Finish with a short spin, NEVER TUMBLE DRY.
Unlined curtain can be washed, follow the procedure as stated for loose covers. With lined curtains it is better to separate the lining as the two fabrics may shrink differently causing unevenness.
Interlined curtains must be DRY CLEANED ONLY
